All Along The Watchtower
Träd, Gräs och Stenar
Decibel Records, 1970

Swedish psych rock meets Bob Dylan: on the self-titled debut album by Träd, Gräs och Stenar from 1970, you’ll find the ultimate version of All Along the Watchtower.
The original was written by Bob Dylan (John Wesley Harding, 1967) and later redefined by Jimi Hendrix. The Swedish version here is a over 8-minute masterpiece: stripped-down, repetitive, almost trance-like, simply epic.
Träd, Gräs och Stenar were part of the Swedish Progg movement, a left-leaning countercultural scene that deliberately rejected the commercial music industry. The band worked collectively, often improvised, and saw themselves more as a counterculture project than a traditional rock band.
This rare “green album” also includes a raw version of (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones.
