In the early ’70s, young organist Tihomir “Pop” Asanović toured East Berlin with his bandmates from former Yugoslavia – likely the reason he renamed his interpretation of Hot Pants Road to Berlin I.
His debut album Majko Zemljo (“Mother Earth”) was released without any credit to James Brown or the J.B.’s, though their influence is unmistakable.
What remains is a pulsating jazz-funk-fusion trip, where playful keyboard and Hammond organ sounds collide with powerful horn sections that blast through the speakers at full force.
