Two Sides Of The Trilogy was released on Strange Productions, a small lounge label from Hollywood, Florida. Strange is definitely the right word here, as the label released only two records: this LP and a single by The Trilogy. That was the entire catalogue.

Very little is known about the band itself. The album moves between lounge, jazz, rock, and easy listening, and features a wonderfully jazzy, laid-back version of the bossa nova classic “Agua de Beber” by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes. First released in 1963, the song later became one of the most frequently performed standards in the Brazilian repertoire.

The personnel make this version particularly charming. Lori Lee Uhlig handles the vocals, while her husband Kurt Uhlig not only plays drums but also contributes a beautiful marimba solo.

Alongside the fantastic “Slow Hot Wind,” this is easily my favourite track on the album.
