Spot were a Swiss band from Geneva. Their only album, Spot, released in 1971, features an extended version of Donovan’s «Jersey Thursday».

Donovan’s 1965 original is stripped down to just voice and guitar and lasts only a few minutes. Spot turn it into an epic journey of more than six minutes. Quiet, restrained passages alternate with dramatic, powerful outbursts.

A particular highlight is the instrumental interlude starting at around 3:20, which lasts for more than a minute and takes the track in a completely different direction before eventually finding its way back. Spot transform Donovan’s simple folk song into a grand, dynamic, and psychedelic interpretation.
