Grandes Exitos de Barry White by the Sound Alike Orchestra is a wonderfully obscure Mexican cover LP dedicated entirely to the sound of Barry White. One of the standout tracks is «Te Voy A Amar Solo Un Poquito Mas», their version of «I’m Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby».

Barry White’s original appeared on his 1973 debut album I’ve Got So Much to Give and was also his first solo single. The song became a major hit and established itself as one of his early classics.

Despite the Spanish title, the song unfortunately isn’t sung in Spanish. But that hardly takes away from the fun. The Sound Alike Orchestra deliver a wonderfully raw and powerful version, packed with heavy, open drum breaks, plenty of groove, and everything a sample hunter or rare groove DJ could ask for.

I’m glad I managed to pick up a copy of this LP before prices went through the roof.
