Ron Marshall and the Spice of Life released You Get The Best Of Our Love in 1975 on the small private label Spice O’ Life Records. The tracklist reads like the repertoire of a well-equipped 1970s club band, featuring versions of Barry Manilow’s «Mandy», Chicago’s «Colour My World», the Eagles’ «One of These Nights» and «Best of My Love», and the Doobie Brothers’ «Long Train Runnin’».

The album was recorded at United Audio in Santa Ana, California.

Originally released by the Doobie Brothers in 1973, «Long Train Runnin’» is instantly recognisable thanks to its distinctive, percussive guitar riff and rolling groove.

Ron Marshall and his band give the song a laid-back, rocking treatment. That classic guitar riff is right where it belongs, while a cool electric guitar solo gives the version a little something of its own. No radical reinvention, just a really well-played club band take on a 1970s classic.
