On the Canadian rock album Reaction and Peter Marino, you’ll find, among other tracks, Just a Little More Baby – a cover version of Barry White’s debut R&B hit I’m Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby from spring 1973. The original was released as the first single from I’ve Got So Much to Give, reached number 1 on the US R&B charts and number 3 on the pop charts, and is still considered a soul classic today.

Reaction were a Canadian rock band who recorded their first and only album in 1973 together with tenor Peter Marino. The record brings together several cover versions, including It’s Your Thing by the Isley Brothers, I Feel the Earth Move by Carole King, and this surprisingly strong Barry White adaptation. With its prominent organ, the originally velvety soul hit takes on a slightly psychedelic, more rock-oriented edge without losing its groove.
