Smoke On The Water
Os 4 Rosas
C. D. P. Records, unknown

Portuguese musician and producer Shegundo Galarza, a cosmopolitan with Spanish roots, discovered The 4 Rosas siblings at a gig in the United States - and was immediately captivated by their youthful energy. He took advantage of their vacation in Portugal to record their first LP there.
In the liner notes, Galarza raves about the start of a great career - you can sense his enthusiasm and belief in the band's potential. But it remained their only album: The 4 Rosas disappeared as quickly as they had appeared.
What remains is a charming piece of vinyl history - including a wonderfully quirky version of Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water, somewhere between school band fire and Mediterranean DIY party band.
And on the record cover: a perfectly staged photo shot in Coimbra - a snapshot of a small pop utopia, preserved on vinyl.
