Baby, I'm In The Mood For You
Odetta
RCA Victor, 1965

Odetta Sings Dylan is an outstanding cover album by the Queen of Folk. At first glance, one might think Odetta was heavily influenced by Bob Dylan – but in truth, it was the other way around.
Dylan once discovered her album Odetta Sings Ballads and Blues in a record store – and was so inspired that he traded in his electric guitar for an acoustic one. The rest is music history.
Bob Dylan himself later said:
“The first thing that turned me on to folk singing was Odetta. I heard a record of hers in a record store, back when you could listen to records right there in the store. That was in ’58 or something like that. Right then and there, I went out and traded my electric guitar and amplifier for an acoustical guitar, a flat-top Gibson. I learned all the songs on that record.”
