Hamppu-Aave (Spooky)Lea Laven
00:00 / 03:32

In 1970, Finnish singer Lea Laven released her album Se Jokin – a rare LP full of cover versions, all sung with her deep, distinctive voice. Included are George Harrison’s Something (Se Jokin), CCR’s Who’ll Stop the Rain (Loppumaan Ken Sateen Saisi) – but the real standout is her Finnish version of Spooky, titled Hamppu-Aave.
The track sounds like a steamy sauna session straight out of Helsinki: a percussive Finnish groove monster with funky horn and organ solos.
And the psychedelic album cover? It promises exactly what the track delivers – Finnish groove-funk with heat and soul.
