Together Let's Find Love
Lanny Brooks
KBK, 1977

Lanny Brooks was a singer and guitarist from St. Louis, Missouri. In 1977, he released Lanny, his only solo album. Recorded with a group of studio musicians, this private press LP blends soul and pop.
For his version of «Together Let's Find Love», Lanny invited his wife Janice to join him on vocals. It is the album's only duet, with Lanny stepping away from his usual vocal style to complement her voice.
«Together Let's Find Love» was originally released in 1971 by American vocal soul group The 5th Dimension. Years later, the song found a second life when Lauryn Hill sampled it for her hit «Everything Is Everything». As a result, the melody will sound familiar to many listeners, even if few know the original recording.
Lanny and Janice Brooks stay largely faithful to the original while giving the song a personal touch through their warm vocal interplay. That's exactly what makes this version so appealing. There's something special about hearing a well known soul song reinterpreted on an obscure private press LP. For collectors like me, discoveries like this are often the most rewarding.
