Family Affair
Jimmy Stone
Palobal, 1972

Almost nothing is known about Jimmy Stone. He was probably a British singer active in Spain in the early ’70s – or maybe just a studio pseudonym.
What is certain: in 1972 he recorded a single for the small Barcelona label Palobal – a rare cover version of Sly & The Family Stone’s Family Affair. The version sounds surprisingly close to the original – and that’s a good thing, because the song itself is simply a masterpiece.
And yet Jimmy Stone remains a phantom: no verified biography, no extended discography – maybe a British singer, maybe just a one-off studio project for the Spanish market.
What remains is this single – Family Affair as a Spanish pressing, somewhere between the funk myth of San Francisco and the independent label culture of Barcelona.
Bay Area funk – packed into a Spanish 7-inch. Pure CoverLove magic.
