In the early 70s, Jim Sturgis released just two albums on his own label, J.J.P. Records from Indianapolis: Every Night... and Sounds Like A Winner. Both are interesting and surprisingly groovy. Yet very little is known about the musician himself.

Every Night... also features a version of George Gershwin’s “Summertime.”

Sturgis gives the classic an unexpectedly groovy twist. At the centre are his vocals and his upbeat Hammond organ, which runs throughout the song and turns this often-played standard into something uniquely his own.
