Melô Do Tagarela (Rapper's Delight (Instrumental))
Gang Do Tagarela
RCA Especial, 1980

Melô do Tagarela – Brazil’s answer to the Sugarhill Gang. Released in 1980 on RCA Brasil and performed by Luís Carlos Miele – entertainer, actor, producer, and one of the true giants of Brazilian show business.
Miele adapted Rapper’s Delight into Portuguese – charming, rhythmic, and slightly ironic. The instrumental version on the B-side is pure gold for brass lovers: trumpet, trombone, and sax glide over a buttery-smooth drum groove, topped with a funky guitar solo.
Melô do Tagarela is now considered one of the very first Brazilian rap tracks – a testament to how quickly the hip-hop wave from the Bronx reached the beaches of Rio and the clubs of São Paulo.
Instrumental, funky, Brazilian – a rare piece of music history and pure Brazilian cover love!
