Walk On By
Flaxton
STR Productions, unknown

I love Discogs – and I honestly have no idea how many hours I’ve spent on that music database, always hunting for new records. On very rare occasions, you come across an album that isn’t even listed there. And that’s exactly what happened with this record by Flaxton.
The band actually describes themselves right on the cover:
“A band created to entertain as many varied tastes as possible with a wide range of music liberally mixed with their own brand of humour … this album was compiled by the band to represent a selection of their most popular numbers, some of which are well known and others not so well known. However they hope you will enjoy listening to them all as much as they enjoyed recording them.”
The result: an album packed with cover versions – often a bit cheesy, but that’s exactly part of the charm with records like this. And indeed: guitarists Rick and Brian jam with a nice groove, while Marina’s vocals float perfectly above their cheesy-groovy version of Walk On By.
