Keep On Running
F.B.I.
Good Earth, 1976

Most DJs immediately think of “Superstition” when it comes to Stevie Wonder covers. But the nine-piece British funk band F.B.I. chose one of the most underrated tracks from his golden 70s period: “Keep On Running” from Music of My Mind (1972). Not a hit, not an obvious choice, but that’s exactly what makes it interesting.
F.B.I., made up of several early Brit-funk pioneers, released their only album in 1976 on Tony Visconti’s short-lived Good Earth label. Among the original compositions, they included just two outside songs: J.R. Bailey’s “Love, Love, Love” and Stevie Wonder’s “Keep On Running.”
The album has long been a favourite among rare groove and funk collectors, not least because of the nearly ten-minute groove monster that is “Keep On Running.”
