Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
Duffy
Mabel Records, 1971

I love this album cover by British rock band Duffy: a portrait of a Basset Hound – nothing else. No title, no band name, no frills. Just a dog. And that’s exactly why it’s iconic.
What makes the cover even more special to me: my copy is signed – personally by the band members. And they handwrote a thank-you to someone named Eliane. Whoever she was: thanks for passing it on!
Musically, the album has plenty to offer too (produced by the legendary Stephen Sulke). Ten solid rock tracks – edgy, British, and catchy. And as the cherry on top: a very well-done cover version of Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.
No surprise the record is now quite rare and sought-after.
Somewhere between vinyl gem and dog icon – pure cover art greatness.
