Dillard Crume and The Soul Rockers – with a name like that, the band just had to sound good. That’s what I thought when I bought the record at a vinyl fair at sixteen – and I wasn’t disappointed.

It’s a fantastic, funky soul album with ten tracks, including six cover versions and two absolute funk bombs that make this record a secret weapon for any funk DJ: the ultimate James Brown classic Mother Popcorn and the driving Let a Woman Be a Woman, Let a Man Be a Man (originally by Dyke & The Blazers)  – an explosive funk banger and a guaranteed dancefloor filler!
