Day Dreaming

The Wooden Glass Feat. Billy Wooten

Interim, 1972

Day DreamingThe Wooden Glass Feat. Billy Wooten
00:00 / 04:50

No soul vocals here, but Hammond organ and vibraphone instead: American jazz vibraphonist Billy Wooten, together with his band The Wooden Glass, covered Aretha Franklin’s brand-new song Day Dreaming during their legendary 1972 live performance at The 19th Hole in Indianapolis. At the time, the track had just been released on the Queen of Soul's milestone album Young, Gifted and Black.

Billy Wooten’s ultra-rare live album has long since achieved cult status — jazz-funk at its best!

And for all music lovers who aren’t completely obsessed with original pressings: there’s a reissue available. A must-listen — one of the greatest live jazz-funk albums ever recorded!
