I love Bettye LaVette’s voice – rough, charismatic, and somewhere between soul, blues, rock ’n’ roll, funk, gospel, and country. A voice with history, with edge, with depth.

And when a voice like that covers one of my all-time favorite songs (Heart Of Gold) by one of my musical heroes (Neil Young) – it’s clear: total knockout.
