Perhaps my favorite version of this traditional classic: House of the Rising Sun. From the very first listen, I was captivated by the sound of Muraoka’s shakuhachi, the Japanese bamboo flute.

Then comes that slow, rolling groove of organ and bass, paired with a wonderfully electrifying guitar – and again and again, the unique, warm tone of the shakuhachi. Almost hypnotic.

In my mind’s eye, I see the rice fields of Hoshitoge in the early morning mist.
